The "Crop, Livestock and Forest Integrated system " project focuses on bringing together technologies, experience and research results from industrial automation,  "Internet of Things - IoT"  and  agribusiness sectors. CLAFIS will address the needs for  seamless data transfer between complex field devices/automation systems and IT systems for  several  stakeholders in the European agribusiness and forestry production sectors.  The CLAFIS  technology platform will further  provide  some very important  key features in agribusiness field  systems, equipment and machinery and devices.

Our aim is to increase  European farmers’ competitiveness through the reduction of production costs as well as increase profitability and competitiveness of the European agriculture and forestry industries by focusing on:

1) European agriculture and forestry equipment manufacturers  (predominantly SMEs), to provide the equipment product and software system developers to achieve advanced and functional and low-cost products within precision farming and FMIS. The demonstration system will support and advance the development  of  common open non-proprietary standards  for competitive product development.

2) End-users in farming and forestry production. The technology will operate behind the scenes to establish trouble-free and seamless interconnection, and enhanced functionality  of field devices and the FMIS adaptation of potentials of precision farming and smart farming.

The benefits of the CLAFIS technology to the various supply chains includes;

  • Provision of a platform for aiding interoperability, connectivity and coherence amongst agriculture systems, equipment and processes.
  • Provision of tools for effective use and access of agricultural data resources by farmers and end-users through advanced HMI and KM technologies.
  • Apply standardized data formats for improved utilization of agriculture information sources and research data.
  • Provision of a platform providing standards for 3rd party developers for innovative agricultural products and services.
  • Access to agricultural knowledge across national borders, reach any outskirt of Europe. (through extensive integration of machine translation tools)
  • Provision of a tool for European-wide professional networking, for sharing experiences and best practices, including communication with staff, suppliers, retailers, consultants, customers and more
  • Improved real-time and onsite guidance and automatic tracking of processes and activities.
  • Security, reliability, data safety backup, privacy is of the highest levels.
  • System cost is comparably low, and it is expected to fall significantly as the volume of manufactured system components (hardware/software) increases, since the components are re-used and/or improved in the future.
